Regina: the hygienist

Regina, our hygienist, takes care of everything to do with keeping the teeth healthy. If your teeth are in a stable, healthy state, she will see you every six months for a routine cleaning to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Or, whether you have just the beginnings of gum disease or a more serious case, she will use her skills to halt the advance of the disease by first doing a deep cleaning of the teeth and gums, then seeing you on a more aggressive schedule — such as once every three months or once every four months — to keep the disease at bay.

Regina will also go into great depth with you about the correct way to brush and floss the teeth, as well as all the techniques of prevention to keep your teeth healthy.

Sara: the doctor's assistant

Sara is the doctor's assistant. One patient remarked how Sara and Dr. Meysman work together: "like a hand and glove".

The doctor's assistant needs to fully understand all the procedures that can be done done — from simple fillings to complex implants — ready to have all materials and instruments ready for each procedure when they are needed. An assistant knowing these things keeps the appointment going without delay, and therefore without causing any unnecessary concern or anxiety in the patient.

Sara is also responsible for learning about new dental materials and equipment coming on the market. If she believes a new product will benefit the care of our patients, she will discuss the matter with the team and, if everyone agrees it will be a benefit, it is acquired for our use. Without someone dedicated to this task, out-dated materials may be used in an office when better materials could instead. Sara keeps us a state-of-the-art office in this regard.

Mai: the office manager

Mai runs our office. She is our office manager, meaning that she sees that things move smoothly. That starts with scheduling: how to make sure patients do not have to wait when they come into our office; i.e., that one procedure with the doctor or the hygienist will not overrun the time alloted for the next patient.

Mai also takes care of our computer equipment and software. When a new release of our office management system arrives, Mai is the one to install it. When we need a new piece of equipment, Mai is the one to put it into service.

Like Sara, Mai is also a licensed dental assistant. Sometimes she will assist Regina during hygiene procedures, and other times she will assist the doctor, all depending on the circumstances.

Dr. Meysman: our dentist

Dr. Meysman is our dentist. She specializes in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, but as a family dentist and a general dentist, she is just as likely to be doing a filling or an extraction, as she is placing a beautiful, new set of veneers on some lucky patient.

A dependable, responsible team

Dr. Meysman knows she has a strong and dependable team behind her. She can focus and concentrate on dentistry and not have to worry about equipment, materials, computers going wrong, and things like that. This is how the office is able to run smoothly: each team member knows their job and responsibilities, and they do it all like the professionals they are.
